This introductory one-day course offers a foundational understanding of equine hydrotherapy, covering the principles, benefits, and practical applications of water-based therapies for horses. Through a mix of classroom learning and hands-on sessions, participants will explore equipment types, safety considerations, and how hydrotherapy supports equine rehabilitation and performance. Ideal for those new to the field or considering further training.
Through this course you will discover:

  • What forms of hydrotherapy are available and their purpose in rehab and performance
  • How we can work as an MDT  effectively
  • What to look for when watching horses on the water treadmill.
  • What are the risks of using hydrotherapy
  • What makes a good practitioner/hydro centre

    The theory is delivered on line and can be done flexibly in the lead up to the practical day. On the day of the course, the morning will be spent recapping on the theory and having group discussions. 

    The second part will involve 4-6 horses with varying backgrounds using the water treadmill. You will have the chance to analyse them as individuals and as a group.
